NJ and 55 Plus You - Perfect Together

Many people not from New Jersey have a slightly distorted view of our Garden State. It is not all inner city and industrial areas as frequently shown on the hit show “Sopranos”. In fact, most of it is quite beautiful from the rolling hills and farmlands in the Northwest to the gorgeous white beaches in the Southeast. Everywhere in between you will find our suburbia paradise with hundreds of great townships large and small that are convenient to just about everything.

New Jersey is also home to a large population of active seniors. In fact, NJ has had large established active adult communities as far back as 40 years ago. Builders have seen the value in developing 55+ communities and NJ has no shortage of them. There are close to one hundred adult communities in just 2 of the 21 New Jersey Counties (Monmouth & Ocean) alone.

55+ communities in NJ come in all shapes, sizes & price ranges. Budget conscious buyers will find many reasonable condo communities that feature most of the same amenities as the more expensive single family home adult communities. If money is no object, then there are also a few ultra-luxury communities that can set you back a million plus. The majority of the active adult communities in NJ are reasonably priced when compared to other housing in the area.

The most popular adult communities in NJ feature larger single family homes with many options and amenities that are a far stretch from basic living. Home options may include granite countertops, 2nd floor lofts, Jacuzzi tubs and more. Many of the communities feature large clubhouses with indoor/outdoor pools, fitness centers and game & media rooms. Several active adult communities even have their own private 18-hole golf courses or membership access to nearby ones.

The benefits of living in an active adult community are many including safer neighborhoods, social networking for seniors and low maintenance homes. NJ active adults get the added bonus of being close to the beaches, parks & Atlantic City. Living in the Tri-State area also allows NJ residents easy access to international airports and the ability to visit NYC or Philadelphia to check out the museums or a Broadway show all in the same day.

Even with all that New Jersey has to offer, the #1 reason why most active seniors live in NJ is to stay close to their children and grandchildren. After all, this is what the Golden Years are all about. New Jersey’s active adult communities just make them a little more dazzling!
