Reading "Driving to the End of the World"
May Have You Saying . . .

“I’m gonna read that again!”  Are you living the life of your dreams?  Find your voice!  Follow your heart!  Ignite your passion!  Live your adventure!  Those are words to live by from first-time author, Mark McMahon.

Every once in a while a book comes along that may surprise you.  McMahon’s autobiographical book, Driving to the End of the World, may be just such a book.  From his very first words, “I’m gonna die,” you may find yourself completely spellbound.  Filled with adventure, comedy and romance his page-turning wonder gracefully interweaves elements of tragedy and discovery with a self-deprecating humor which may have you laughing out loud.

The story begins with a tragedy.  McMahon’s epiphany that he would one day die, motivates him to live.  He sells his thriving dental practice, buys a used pick-up truck and begins a two-year driving odyssey from his home in Tucson, Arizona to the “end of the world” in Tierra Del Fuego, Argentina.  Along the ride, he meets a wide array of “characters”, gets in a little trouble, has a whole lot of fun and learns something special about his world and his life.

It is rare when an author can accomplish such an exceptional piece of literature on his first try.  McMahon is clearly a brilliant storyteller and his willingness to completely open himself to his reader is enlightened.  Even this early in his writing career, he deserves mention along with great adventure travel writers Paul Theroux and Tim Cahill.  Driving to the End of the World is not merely great reading, it’s an important book for anyone who has ever asked themselves “Why?”

My only complaint is that I cannot read McMahon’s next book right now.  However, for only $14.95 (+ shipping and handling) you CAN read his first book.  Just click here to order it NOW!  Or, you can read more about Mark and his book by visiting his website, Live Your Adventure.
